Although renal osteodystrophy begins at the early stages of chronic renal failure, because of the symptoms appears at terminal stages and the other complications of chronic renal failure are more urgent, generally the treatment of osteodystrophy is neglected.
There are lots of clinical trials which aimed to take optimum results with vitamin D analogs for treatment osteodystrophy. We investigated the results of
p.o
1-OC-D3, p.o calcitriol and IVcalcitriol on 38 longterm dialysed patients who were dialysed at the hemodialysis department of Haydarpaşa Numune Hospital. They were divided three groups according to vitamin D analogs which they had been taken. Efficacy and safety of these agents were checked with bone density, radiological and biochemisthcal measurements at the beginning and the end of the study.
It is concluded that; although there are little differences between the results of these three agents, they were not significant statistically. Therefore these agents can be used for the treatment of renal osteodystrophy safely and efficiently.

Renal
osteodistrofi, böbrek yetmezliğinin erken evrelerinde başlamasına rağmen klinik olarak geç dönemde bulgu vermesi ve sıklıkla acil sorunların ön¬celikle ele alınmayı gerektirmesi nedeniyle, tedavisine geç başlanan bir komplikasyondur. Bu nedenle renal osteodistrofinin tedavisi güç ve uzun sürelidir.
Renal
osteodistrofi tedavisinde en iyi sonucu almak için farklı D vitamini analoglan denenmekte¬dir. Biz de çalışmamızda üç hasta grubunda sırasıyla oral I-a D3,oral kalsitriol ve IVkalsitriol kullanarak sonuçlarını inceledik. Hastanemiz hemodiyaliz ünite-side Nisan 1995-Ekim 1995 tarihleri arasında kronik hemodiyaliz programında olan hastalar osteodistrofi yönünden tetkik edilerek çalışma protokolüne göre 38 hasta seçildi. Kullanmakta oldukları D vitamini analoguna göre üç gruba ayrıldılar. Çalışmanın ba¬şında ve sonunda ölçülen kemik dansitesi, radyolojik ve biyokimyasal parametrelerle farklı D vitaminlerinin etki ve güvenilirlikleri değerlendirildi.
Tedavi grupları arasında farklı sonuçlar alın¬masına rağmen, bunlar istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bulunmadı ve üç vitamin D analogunun da renal osteodistrofi tedavisinde etkili ve güvenli olarak kul¬lanılabileceğine karar verildi.
