Abstract (2. Language):
membrane Na+-K+ATPaz ye Ca2+ ATPaz activities and sialic acid levels that may be related to aging. An insignifİcant decrease was obtained in the erythrocyte membrane Na+-K> ATPase and Ca2+ ATPase activities of 14 old subjects with a mean age of 64 according to the enzyme activities of the 14 yoııng subjects whose mean age was 28. The intracellular and extracellularNa+ and K+ concentrati-ons and îhe plasma and erythrocyte membrane sialic levels were found with a tendency to inc-rease in the elder subjects but only the plasma Na+ increase was significant. According to these fındings, it İs thougt these two enzyme activities were not affected with increasing age and the aging process do not make some negative changes on celi volume and homeostasis mechanisms and on membrane structure.
