Obesity fype and cardiovascular risk markers in ovenveight and obese women. The aim ol this study is to examine different cardiovascular risk markers with respect to different types of obesity. Study group consisted of 623 overweight (body mass index, BMI >25 kg/m2) and 2559 obese (BMI > 30 kg/m2) women. Patients were divİded into four groııps according to BMI and waİst-to-hip ratio (WHR) levels: simple overweight (BMI < 30 kg/m2 ve WHR < 0.8, n= 371), abdominal adiposily (BMI < 30 kg/m2 and WHR > 0.8, n= 252), pcripheral (püre) obesity (BMI > 30 kg/m2 and WHR < 0.8, n= 918) and cenlral obesity (BMI > 30 kg/m2 and WHR > 0.8, n= 1641). Risk marker levels were significantly higher in the cenlral obesity group than the other subjects. These findings implicate central obesity as a powerful risk marker for coronary heaıt disease, stroke, and NIDDM (non-insulİn dependent diaberes melIİtus). It secnıs that risk markers were related to the type of obesity in obese women.

Bu çalışma değişik şişmanlık (iplerinin insülin direnci ile birlikte seyreden çeşitli kardiyovas-küler risk göstergeleri ile ilişkisini araştırmak amacıyla yapıldı, 623 fazla kilolu (beden kitle indeksi, body mass index, BMI > 25 kg/m2) vc 2559 şişman (BMI > 30 kg/m2) kadın BMI ve bel/kalça oram (waist-hip ratio, WHR) düzeylerine göre dört ayrı şişmanlık tipine ayrıldı: fazla kilolu (BMI < 30 kg/m2 ve WHR < 0.8, n= 371), abdominal yağlanma (BMI < 30 kg/m2 ve WHR > 0.8, n= 252), periferik şişman (saf şişman) (BMI > 30 kg/m2 ve WHR < 0.8, n= 918) ve santral (abdominal) şişman (BMI > 30 kg/m2 vc WHR > 0.8, n= 1641). Risk gösterge düzeyleri çoğunlukla santral şişman grubunda en yüksek olarak bulundu. Bulgular, şişmanlıkla birlikte intraabdominal yağ toplanmasının daha ciddi bir risk gösterge düzeyi, hiperinsülİnemi ve insülin direncine yol açtığını düşündürmektedir. Santral şişman grupta en yüksek risk gösterge düzeylerinin bulunması şişmanlık kadar, batın İçi yağ toplanmasının risk göstergeleri varlığı üzerinde etkili olduğunu göstermektedir.
