Turkish textile and apparel industry is one of the leading segments of the Turkish economy and the largest source of foreign exchange earnings for Turkey. The sector has slightly more than 22.6 percent of export earnings, and employs about 2 million people, making it the largest source of industrial employment in Turkey. It has a crucial social function when one considers that more than two million, including the supportive industries, have been employed in the sector (TGSD, 2008). This paper analysis the competitiveness level of Turkish textile and apparel industry by using Porter’s diamond model. It is determined the current state, competitiveness level and explained main features of competitiveness structure of industry, also, a number of competitive strategies suggested. to achieve the research purpose, secondary and primary research collection methods were employed.

Türk tekstil ve hazırgiyim sektörü ekonominin lider sektörlerinden birisi olup, ihracat gelirlerinin %22.6’sına tekabül etmektedir. Sektörde yaklaşık 2 milyon kişi çalışmakta olup, Türkiye’nin en büyük istihdam grubunu temsil etmektedir (yan sanayiler dahil) (TGSD, 2008). Bu çalışma Türk tekstil ve hazırgiyim sektörünün rekabet gücünün Porter’in elmas modeli kullanılarak tespit edilmesini amaçlamaktadır. Çalışma sanayinin içerisinde bulunduğu durumun güncel bir profilini çıkarmakta, rekabet gücünün ana etkenlerini belirlemekte vesanayinin rekabet gücünü yükseltmek için stratejiler önermektedir. Çalışmada birincil ve ikincil veritoplama yöntemleri uygulanmıştır.
