Abstract (2. Language):
Although all the types of vocal practice have a peculiarity evident in perceptual dimension, all these types of vocal practice and each of the sound quality produced by these practices in specifically have a characteristic feature shared by all others. It can be said under the guidance of Malinowski’s
functionality theory that all types of vocal practice and each of the sound
quality produced by these practices, at least in the beginning of this process,
appeared in order to fulfill a function and they constituted its shaping through
an anxiety of certain necessities which should be eliminated. The concern that
creates this situation significantly shows similarity among all these vocal
performing styles: the request to be heard by more people and/or to be heard
from more distant points. It has be seen a phenomenon named in literature as
speaker formant or actor formant which activates in non-operatic performing
styles via techniques associated with singing formant and adaptation of
formant in this goal. This acoustical phenomenon, which located in a frequency
domain that hearing sensitivity is maximized, performs a function in the respect
of non-operatic vocal performing styles, which also performs a function in the
respect of operatic vocal performing style. Although it is seen that the studies
are increased related with the speaker’s/actor’s formant in last decades, it is
understood this increase is not sufficient to say something definitely in the
respect of lots of dimensions related with acoustical phenomenon. Yet, data that
is acquired about this phenomenon will make an important contribution in the
determination of techniques which will be constituted for non-operatic vocal
performing styles.
