Abstract (2. Language):
The need for small lot production and flexibile production systems is rapidly increasing in todays dynamic market conditions. However long setup times are one of the biggest obstacles for succeding these purposes. It is common that many companies are utilizing methods like Six Sigma and Lean Production for improving their product and service quality. Even combined usage of these two approaches for better results is offen suggested in the literature. In this study integration of SMED methdology -a tool of lean production used for quicker changeovers- with six sigma is investigated by examining a real life lean six sigma project which is performed in a large sized automotive parts producer and findings for effective integration of Lean and Six Sigma have been shared.
