Abstract (2. Language):
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of two types of dentifrices, with or without fluoride on salivary flow rate, pH, buffering capacity, Ca, P, F, total protein concentrations. For this reason. 20 easy cooperable Dental School sLudents who regularly brush their teeth were selected. In order not to effect the structure of saliva.it was carefully examined that the student did not have any health problem and were away from any drug usage. Control group brushed their teeth with non-fluoride toothpaste and experimental group brushed with fluoride toothpaste for two weeks after each meal for 2 minutes in front of mirror. After this period, saliva values were determined. Flow raLe of 1 mg saliva was accepted 1 ml in tubes which were weighed empty. After the identified flow rates of saliva samples', saliva pll were immediately measured. Saliva buffering capacity was assessed according to Hricsson method. Concentrations of Ca, T, and total protein were calculated as mg/dl in an otoanalyzer Concentration of F was measured by using a fluoride ion anaiizer with a specific fluoride electrode. At the end of the study, Ca, P and F levels were round higher in fluoride group than in non-fluoride dentifrices groups. Total protein levels were simifar in all groups. There was not any difference in saliva flow rate among the groups. As a result, 2 minutes of using a fluoride dentifrice 3 times at a day after each meal can be thought to have beneficial effects on saliva and dental plaque in order to prevent dental caries.
