Abstract (2. Language):
Because the technique involves fusion of a brittle material to a ductile one, fractures of the brittle material can occur. New porcelain cannot be added to an existing restoration intraorally because of the nature of the porcelain processing. For this reason, intraoral porcelain repair methods have been developed. The aim of this study was to comparatively test the bond strength on water-stored and thermocycled specimens which were prepared by using five different intraoral porcelain repair kits used in porcelain repair on three different surfaces conditioned with bur and air-abraded with aluminium oxide paniclesExamination of the fracture surfaces resulting from the bond strength test and surface roughness by protilemeter. followed by scanning electron microscope evaluation of the retention sites was also aimed. A total of 180 specimens were prepared to test the shear bond strengths of intraoral repair kits under laboratory conditions. Following the application of live different repair kits, specimens were 37°C water-stored for 1 day. 1 week or 1 month and then all specimens were 5-55°C thermocycled for 550 limes. Shear bond strengths of the specimens were then tested on Instron testing machine. All data were statistically analysed (p<0.05). Difference between the shear bond strengths to metal, porcelain and metal-porcelain surfaces were statistically significant The highest surface roughness was obtained in profilemeter evaluation with burs on metal, metal-porcelain and porcelain surfaces. With recent developments in adhesive techniques and composite resin applications, intraoral porcelain repair methods provide a simple, repeatablc and effective treatment alternative, especially when a relatively small part of a restoration is damaged.
