Journal Name:

Publication Year:

Abstract (2. Language):
The aim of this study was to determine the perceptions of residents about the socio-economic impact of a sporting event by identifying groups with similar attitudes toward this event and the definition of the characteristics of their profile. We applied a cluster analysis combining hierarchical and non-hierarchical methods in order to optimize results. There were three groups of residents who provided a good interpretation of the study: favorable (14.42%), realists (38.44%) and detractors (47.14%). The main variables that differentiated groups of residents were, the interest in the sport, the fans, attendance to the event, supporting its celebration, identification with the sport policy, the perception of the event organization, the degree of identification with the event and future intentions. The results of this study provide useful information to sports event organizers and authorities to understand and better meet the needs and demands of citizens.
